Frank Mir Wants A Match With Lesnar

Frank Mir is looking to engage in a rubber match with Brock Lesnar in which he is hoping to even the scores.

This was the state of affairs in January and a date is yet to be fixed. The duo is heavyweight fighters, 37 and 39 years of age who had epic fights several years back, in 2008 and 2009. The first encounter that the two fighters had, Mir was able to defeat his opponent with a first round kneebar at UFC 81. Lesnar, however, avenged the first defeat in an emphatic fashion and defeated Mir in a second round TKO at the UFC 100. Hence, Mir has been looking out to defeat Lesnar which is on his mind, though he has not been getting the right opportunity.

Mir has been out of the circles as he has been suspended for about two years as he failed in a drug test at an event that was to be held at the Mandalay Bay Events Center.

Now that he is free to appear for fights, he was keen when a trilogy fight was mentioned with Lesnar. He also stated in an interview that he is looking to perform and compete after having been suspended and kept out of the ring for so long. Mir states that the rubber fight would be a good one as it would also mean lots of people coming to watch the match and making it a great payday. He also wants to attempt the belt once again now that his suspension is over. He states that sometimes it is not about a title or winning one, but going out there for a fight which offers a good challenge. Such fights also bring in good money as people want to see a good fight and that is what a rubber match with Brock Lesnar would bring.
