Olympic champ Jade Jones says Lauren Williams can grow to be one of the best taekwondo fighters in the world. The Brit opines that her compatriot can become a major force in the sport. The 18-year old Williams usurped the world champ Ruth Gbagbi, winning her first major senior title.

The Welsh star won the -67kg Word Grand Prix final on Friday while fellow Welsh fighter Jones won the -57kg category the following day. Jones is just winning her first title this year but she says Williams has been a big boost to the strength of the British team. Read more »

Frank Mir Wants A Match With Lesnar

Frank Mir is looking to engage in a rubber match with Brock Lesnar in which he is hoping to even the scores.

This was the state of affairs in January and a date is yet to be fixed. The duo is heavyweight fighters, 37 and 39 years of age who had epic fights several years back, in 2008 and 2009. The first encounter that the two fighters had, Mir was able to defeat his opponent with a first round kneebar at UFC 81. Lesnar, however, avenged the first defeat in an emphatic fashion and defeated Mir in a second round TKO at the UFC 100. Hence, Mir has been looking out to defeat Lesnar which is on his mind, though he has not been getting the right opportunity.

Former heavyweight champion Frank Mir is about calling off his illustrious career with the UFC. The UFC veteran was suspended after he tested positive for oral turinadol, a banned substance under USADA anti-doping law.

Mir who started his UFC career in 2001 is one of the longest tenured fighters on the UFC roster.

According to USADA, the veteran fighter remains suspended until April 2018. However, on Monday’s edition of the MMA, the fighter stated that he is seeking release from his contract with the UFC. According to the fighter: “As of now I’m under suspension, as troubling as that is, they have it to where I can’t do any broadcasting, Not that I was ever going to get it in there, just because I’ve been asking for several years since the WEC since put this in the rotation, right now I’d like to be released by the UFC so I can continue my career in other avenues.” Read more »

Michael van Gerwen Wins The Match Against Phil Taylor

The 25 years old professional darts player from Netherlands, Michael van Gerwen currently holds the topmost position in the league table of Betway Premier League after he defeated the 54 years old English Pro Dart player, Philip Douglas Taylor on Thursday, 12th March. Van Gerwen won 7-3 against Phil Taylor in that match. The event took place in Capital FM Arena which is in Nottingham and the total number of spectators present there was more than six thousand. The 37 years old English pro Boxer and four times World Champion Carl Froch was present there.

Van Gerwen said that he couldn’t imagine any better result than this. Van Gerwen and Phil Taylor are regarded as two of the best dart players in the world. On the eighth leg, Van Gerwen managed to score 180 which was the first one of the match. it was clear that both the players were indeed nervous in the first seven legs of the match. He said that it was not at all easy for both of them at the start of the match. He also said that the determination to win was very high in both of them due to the fact that the winner of that match would secure for himself the topmost position in the league table of the Betway Premier League. Frank Mir considered retirement after loss to Overeem

Former Ultimate Fighting Championship or the UFC Heavyweight champion Frank Mir is not someone who takes any decision lightly, so when it emerged that he considered quitting the sport after his loss to Alistair Overeem, it doesn’t seem an exaggeration.

According to reports, following his unanimous decision loss at the hands of the Dutchman, Mir gave himself plenty of time to introspect before he decided to return to fighting in the end.

Mir, who suffered his fourth straight defeat during the loss to Overeem, said during a television show that retirement was on his mind for some time.
